“It was the worst timing for what I intended to do,” she groaned. With that done, Konefal was excited to spread her wings and try her hand at other projects… and then Covid hit. It was exactly what she’d been hoping for, so she agreed to the plan and Ciara was blown up. More: Powerhouses who should play Lani’s villainous new dad And so they were very sweet and lenient.” But she believed that “they didn’t want to compromise mine and Rob’s chemistry together and what I can bring to the show. The powers that be came up with a plan, killing Ciara “for the time being.” Days of Our Lives, she knew, could have easily recast her and moved on with a shrug and a farewell. The show took a beat, then decided to give her the freedom she was craving. “’Guys, I know this is a risky move,’” she told her team, “‘but I want to be free for a little.’” She didn’t want to turn her back on Ciara, though, so Konefal decided to try a little gambling. While she was technically allowed to audition for other projects while on contract, it wasn’t really something she could realistically do. “As much as I love and appreciate being on the show,” she made clear, “personally, I needed more.” It all started, she said, when her original two-year contract was up and the actress started getting the itch to try other things. Konefal sat down recently to talk to Soap Opera Digest about Ciara’s coming and going in Salem. More: How the beloved Horton ornament-hanging tradition first began And it’s partly because of that, she thinks, that she’s been blessed with so much freedom on the show. Ciara and Ben’s chemistry is off the charts, thanks to the sparks Konefal makes fly on screen with her scene partner, Robert Scott Wilson. Not only does the actress get to play an iconic Days of Our Lives legacy character in Bo and Hope’s daughter, Ciara, she’s also half of “Cin,” one of the show’s most popular supercouples. Victoria Konefal knows exactly how lucky she is. I can understand the audience’s frustration, but I am very excited about Victoria’s return and about Ciara’s return, and I think that this time, they may be getting the payoff that they’re looking for. After a few bumps, it looks like everything may finally be falling into place. “We are working with Victoria to keep the story going and keep Ben and Ciara’s love story alive. “I can’t speak for Victoria and I can’t speak for the show, and this is not an official announcement in any capacity, but I will say at this point, there is not an end date,” Carlivati said of how long Konefal would be back for later this year. And bringing her back with partial amnesia, unable to remember her love for Ben, helped facilitate this subsequent exit because if the couple were happily reunited, why would Ciara choose to leave Ben again? Theo may have won this battle, but the war for Ciara’s heart isn’t over yet! XJJohnson/ I would encourage the audience to remember that they have an important anniversary coming up this summer that may figure into their story, so she will be back sooner than you know.”īen and Ciara proved a breakout supercouple for DAYS, so when Konefal went to recurring back in July 2017, they had her character presumed dead knowing that she would one day be back. “I don’t have the exact date in front of me but she’s coming back this summer. “I’m happy to announce here that Ciara is coming back and we are going to tell that next chapter of the story and hopefully, this time, the audience will get the payoff that they’re looking for and hoping for,” Carlivati told Soap Opera Digest, though he didn’t have any details at this time. With Konefal on recurring status, DAYS has had to write around her absences to continue telling Cin’s story, which he promises is not over yet. In a recent interview, the scribe admitted that writing for the popular couple of Ben and Ciara became a challenge when the actress wanted to leave the show but the actor didn’t. Ciara may have just left Salem with Theo, but Victoria Konefal is coming back to DAYS OF OUR LIVES this summer, assures the soap’s headwriter, Ron Carlivati.
